This drink, also known as hibiscus tea, is frequently consumed in the Central American region, especially in the Caribbean. If you drink it cold, it is very refreshing, while if you drink it hot, it will help you relax.
Natural recipe to prepare Jamaica water
The first thing you should do is prepare all the ingredients.
- Water: 4 bowls.
- Dried hibiscus calyces: half a bowl.
- Other ingredients to discover new flavors: yellow lemon rind, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, rum etc.
- We do not recommend sugar if your purpose is to lose weight.
Now you just have to follow the preparation steps.
- Heat half the water to a boil.
- Add the Jamaica flower (calyxes) and ginger (if you are going to use it).
- When it starts to boil, wait 120 seconds and turn off the heat.
- Let the mixture marinate for 10-12 minutes. If you wait longer, it will have a more intense flavor.
- Strain the water and add the half of the water that was missing. Stir well until smooth. In this step, you can also spice them up with rum.
- Serve with ice or hot, according to taste. Store the water in the fridge so it doesn’t spoil.
